Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the 12 Letters experience.

01What is 12 Letters?
12 Letters is a transformation journey for people at crossroads. Through 12 guided Heart To Heart Conversations you pause and reflect on where you have been. At the end of each one, you receive a letter that helps you see who you are becoming.
02Why do this?
Many people go through change without making meaning out of it. Self discovery does not happen by accident. These guided Heart To Heart Conversations help you harness your life events to turn them into momentum going forward—turning quick thoughts into clarity and leaving you with a set of letters to inspire and guide you down the road.
03Is there a deeper framework behind this?
Yes. The experience is constructed based on age-old stories, frameworks of transformation, and coming-of-age rituals. It mirrors the rituals of death and rebirth found in cultures around the world, guiding you through your own personal evolution.
04What are the 12 letters?
Each of the 12 Letters guides you through a different part of your life—your younger self, a future you, an unsent note, even your own emotions. The result is insight, relief, and a clearer path forward.
05How does it work?
You start a Heart To Heart session with your AI Storykeeper (your interviewer), which asks curated questions based on what you share. There are usually about 15 questions in each Heart To Heart. Each Heart To Heart lasts about 20–40 minutes, and at the end a letter is automatically written for you from that Heart To Heart.
06Why write letters to myself?
Letters let you speak to different versions of yourself—past, present, and future. They create healthy distance from your normal patterns, so you can see yourself in a new light. You don't have to write anything. You talk it through, and the letter helps you clarify what you believe, let go of regrets or unspoken words, and picture the future you want.
07How long does the program take?
There are 12 letters total—and each Heart To Heart takes about 20–40 minutes. We encourage you to stay with whatever pace feels right; spend as long as you need to process and embody your thoughts. Some people finish in a day, others stretch it out over a week.
08Where should I do this program?
Pick a setting that feels different from your everyday routine—into nature, a short getaway, a quiet hotel, or a beach day. Make it a ritual so your body remembers the change. Treat it like a fanfare, and let the shift in space make the experience even more impactful.
09But I'm not good at writing!
You don't have to be. No essays. No letter-writing. You just talk. Your AI Storykeeper shapes what you shared into a clear, polished letter.
10I don't know what to write about.
That's okay. Your AI Storykeeper adapts. It asks follow-up questions, offers fresh angles, and lets you skip ahead or return to any topic. You always have the support to keep going.
11How much should I respond?
No essays. No letter-writing. Just answer in your own words. We recommend sharing at least 3–4 sentences per question (more if it feels natural), but never rush yourself. Focus on honesty rather than perfection.
12How does voice-to-text work?
Voice input uses the speech-to-text engine on your phone. Whatever language your device is set to for dictation will be used, so it matches the settings you already rely on. The app still prompts you in English. Not sure how it feels? Tap the same dictation / text-to-speech icon you use in any other app and try a quick note—the experience will be identical inside 12 Letters.
13Will my letters stay private?
Yes. We work hard to protect your privacy. Your conversations and letters are stored securely on Google servers and belong to you—we don't sell your personal information. To generate drafts, we send the necessary parts of your prompts and context to our AI provider(s) via our backend. We use OpenAI's API (not the consumer ChatGPT app), and by default OpenAI does not use API data to train their models. For full details, see the App Privacy Policy.
14Can I keep the letters?
Yes. You will always have access to your conversations and letters—save them, print them, revisit them whenever you need.
15What languages do you support?
The 12 Letters experience is available in English only right now. We are exploring localized versions, but today every prompt, question, and letter is written in English.
16Is this mobile only?
Yes, for now! The experience is built as a mobile app, but we may release a web version later.
17Is this a trauma release program?
No. This is not a trauma release program or a substitute for clinical therapy. If there are traumatic events you'd like to process, please work with a licensed therapist or trauma-informed practitioner before or alongside 12 Letters—we focus on reflective conversation and personal evolution, not diagnosing or treating mental health conditions.
18Is there anything I'm not allowed to talk about?
We must abide by safety policies from our AI providers. Sensitive topics—such as self-harm, violence, or abuse—may trigger a safety filter, leading to a message that the content cannot be processed. If this happens, you can continue by simply changing the topic. If you encounter this multiple times in a single conversation, it is best to restart the conversation entirely. Please be aware that repeated safety violations may lead to account restrictions to protect our service access.
19Do credits expire?
Credits from one-time purchases do not expire. If you're on a subscription plan, it includes a monthly credit allowance that resets each billing cycle (unused subscription credits don't roll over). Either way, you always retain access to the conversations and letters you've already completed.
20What are credits?
Each Heart To Heart requires AI processing, which costs money per word. When you purchase the program we assign a generous pool of credits—enough to finish all 12 letters with room to explore. Credits help us keep your use within the boundaries we design for the experience. If you ever need more, you can purchase additional credits.
