Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the 12 Letters experience.

01What is 12 Letters?
12 Letters is a transformation journey for people at crossroads. Through 12 guided conversations you pause, reflect on where you have been, and write letters that help you see who you are becoming. That clarity helps you step into the next chapter with intention.
02Why do this?
Many people go through change without making meaning out of it. Self discovery does not happen by accident. These guided conversations help you harness your life events to turn them into momentum going forward—turning quick thoughts into clarity and leaving you with a set of letters to inspire and guide you down the road.
03Is there a deeper framework behind this?
Yes. The experience is constructed based on age-old stories, frameworks of transformation, and coming-of-age rituals. It mirrors the rituals of death and rebirth found in cultures around the world, guiding you through your own personal evolution.
04What are the 12 letters?
Each of the 12 Letters guides you to write to a part of your life—your younger self, a future you, an unsent note, even your own emotions. The result is insight, relief, and a clearer path forward.
05How does it work?
You start a session with your personal AI interviewer, which asks curated questions specific to your responses, life situations, and points of view to help you explore and reflect on your life. Each conversation lasts about 15–30 minutes, and at the end a letter is automatically written for you based on that conversation.
06Why write letters to myself?
Writing letters allows you to address different versions of yourself—past, present, and future. It creates separation from your normal patterns, allowing you to see yourself in a new light. Letters clarify what you believe, help you let go of regrets and unspoken words, and help you picture your best-case future and plan the steps to reach it.
07How long does the program take?
There are 12 letters total—and each guided conversation takes about 20–40 minutes. We encourage you to stay with whatever pace feels right; spend as long as you need to process and embody your thoughts. Some people finish in a day, others stretch it out over a week.
08Where should I do this program?
Pick a setting that feels different from your everyday routine—into nature, a short getaway, a quiet hotel, or a beach day. Make it a ritual so your body remembers the change. Treat it like a fanfare, and let the shift in space make the experience even more impactful.
09But I'm not good at writing!
You don't have to be. Your AI ghostwriter interviews you in a simple conversation. You just answer with your own words, and it shapes them into a clear, polished letter.
10I don't know what to write about.
Your AI interviewer adapts. It asks follow-up questions, offers fresh angles, and lets you skip ahead or return to any topic. You always have the support to keep going.
11How much should I respond?
The more you write and reflect deeply, the more you'll get out of the program. We recommend answering with at least 3–4 sentences per question, but never rush yourself. Let your thoughts, feelings, and reflections spill out—the AI will help you shape them into a letter, so focus on honesty rather than perfection.
12How does voice-to-text work?
Voice input uses the speech-to-text engine on your phone. Whatever language your device is set to for dictation will be used, so it matches the settings you already rely on. The app still prompts you in English. Not sure how it feels? Tap the same dictation / text-to-speech icon you use in any other app and try a quick note—the experience will be identical inside 12 Letters.
13Will my letters stay private?
Yes. Your letters are stored securely on Google servers and belong to you alone—we never share or sell them. AI processing uses API access with the highest privacy settings available to us, and only you can read the finished letters. With your permission, anonymous patterns may be used to improve the system, but no one will ever read your personal letters. For more, see the app privacy policy.
14Can I keep the letters?
Yes. You will always have access to your conversations and letters—save them, print them, revisit them whenever you need.
15What languages do you support?
The 12 Letters experience is available in English only right now. We are exploring localized versions, but today every prompt, question, and letter is written in English.
16Is this mobile only?
Yes, for now! The experience is built as a mobile app, but we may release a web version later.
17Is this a trauma release program?
No. This is not a trauma release program or a substitute for clinical therapy. If there are traumatic events you'd like to process, please work with a licensed therapist or trauma-informed practitioner before or alongside 12 Letters—we focus on reflective writing and personal evolution, not diagnosing or treating mental health conditions.
18Is there anything I'm not allowed to talk about?
Our Terms & Conditions outline topics the app cannot support—such as abuse, self-harm, and other subjects restricted by our API providers. Please review the app Terms and Conditions before you begin to understand the boundaries we have to uphold.
19Do credits expire?
Yes. Credits follow an expiration schedule (usually 1 year), and once they expire you'll need to purchase new credits for additional conversations. Even after credits expire, you always retain access to the conversations and letters you've already completed.
20What are credits?
Each conversation requires AI processing, which costs money per word. When you purchase the program we assign a generous pool of credits—enough to finish all 12 letters with room to explore. Credits help us keep your use within the boundaries we design for the experience. If you ever need more, you can purchase additional credits.
